OBJECTIVE:   Students will learn to use an application Visual Communicator in order to put together a school news broadcast.  Additionally, they will learn all the aspects that go along with consolidating material for a broadcast wether it is for a school broadcast or other information that they feel is important.


OUTCOME COMPONENT:

  1. Working knowledge of application.
  2. Picking several topics for broadcast
  3. Gathering information/preparing article on topics
  4. Priortizing articles 
  5. Practicing and recording their material into segments
  6. Deciding on graphics for segments
  7. Priority of segments
  8. Decide on transitions from one segment to another
  9. Final product- a broadcast to school

CONTEXT/TEACHING METHODS:

Context

An accumulation of media experiences go to gether to prepare and produce a school news broadcast.  Students become familiar with the vocabulary and the broadcasting application.  Then must decide on material that is important to the students at school.  Reporters must gather the facts and check material as they use spelling and grammar skills with word processors to prepare their articles and then forward electronically those articles to studio for their segment.  Students also learn how hard it is to rehearse material prior to producing their segments then with a student director decide the priority of the segment in the broadcast along with any graphics to accompany the segment.  Then learning from the director, they put together their own broadcast.  Transfering the completed broadcast into the schools electronic Teradon system for showing.
