OBJECTIVE: Students will become familiar with using the vocabulary words to practice searching for information on the Internet.  Additionaly, they will continue to build on the typing skills as they find necessary information.

OUTCOME COMPONENT:

1.Familiar with where keys are located on the keyboard. 
2.Additional typing skill building
3.Searching skills using Internet search engines.
4.Organize journal to follow directions given. 
5.Develop higher thinking skills as students create own definitions.

 

 SUCCESS INDICATORS:

  1.      Increase in words per minute (WPM) and accuracy time. 
  2.      Become more confident in using searching skills.  
  3.   Create a journal and follow directions on its creation. 
  4.      Build spelling and grammar skills.

CONTEXT/TEACHING METHODS:

Context

Computer Classroom. Students will be faced with searching for information and data on the Internet.  It is important to become familiar with the different search engines available as well as the sources of the definitions.  Students must learn to analye the information to see if it correct as well as how it fits in with their own experiences.  They will develop skills to take thowse definitions and creat a definition that is important to them.  Definitions in technology tend to change an alter as technology advances.  Students need to be receptive to those changes.

Teaching

STUDENT ACTIVITIES:

  1. Review vocabulary words 
  2. Search for meanings of designated words
  3. Cite source of those definitions
  4. Create own definitions based on finiding.

ASSESSMENTS (AT LEAST 3 TYPES):

  1. Attendance
  2. Quizes
  3. Journal

CORRECTIVES AND ENRICHMENT:

Corrective-

By its very nature, this practice develops the manipulation skills to a finer and finer point.  Organization of  journal

Enrichment:

Additional skills by adding to their journal as the semester progresses.  Add to journal complexity
