Lesson Plan

OBJECTIVE: Students will design several presentations using Microsoft Power Point application.  This application is a foundation  in understanding other presentation programs.  Once students have the vocabulary, and tool skills with this program then they will be able to use just about any presentation program on the market today. 

OUTCOME COMPONENT:

1.Presentation Layout of Power point.
2. Incorporating graphics into presentation
3. Presentation

 

 SUCCESS INDICATORS:

  1. Students present their work to the class and modify their work as necessary
  2. Presentation that can be used in another class.

CONTEXT/TEACHING METHODS:

Context

Students are to research the program as a foundation to learning what the capabilities of the program.  They will use different sources to learn the application's capabilities.  Once they understand the function of this program, then they will have 'hands on experience' preparing a presentation using this application.  Part of understanding the capabilities of the program require that they insert different types of media into their presentation.  Items such as pictures, graphics and sound as well.

After their initial presentation is completed, they will be required to prepare additional presentations to reinforce what they have learned during the last 3 weeks.   

Students will have a rubric to follow that will be used to grade their efforts.

Teaching

STUDENT ACTIVITIES:

  1. Research topics 
  2. Decide which topic they will do
  3. Outline topic areas.
  4. Become familiar with Power point using tutorial provided 
  5. Prepare their presentation
  6. Give presentation to class
  7. Journal entry of experiences

ASSESSMENTS (AT LEAST 3 TYPES):

  1. Teacher Observation
  2. Research  
  3. Mastering skills
  4. Presentation
