Strategies for Test Taking

**Whether we like them or not taking tests is a fact of high school life. **

This guide is designed to provide high school students with an overview of test-taking tips and strategies that will assist them on their journey toward academic success.

General Advice for Test Takers 

On scantron sheets, be sure to fill in the ovals completely: erasures should be thorough. 

Avoiding anxiety in a testing situation is important. You can reduce anxiety by following these steps:

  1. Prepare in advance for the test through studying. Studying all year long and not cramming for one test is the best approach.
  2. If the test is a standardized one such as the ACT/ SAT, complete practice tests to become familiar with the test format.
